詳細情報/Detailed Information

授業の概要 This course aims to teach students the skills needed for reading and writing in English for general academic purposes.
授業のキーワード Reading、 Writing、 Listening、 Speaking、 English for Academic Purposes
授業の目的 The aim of this course is to improve students’ ability to communicate in social and basic business situations. A four-skills approach with a primary focus on reading and listening and secondary attention given to speaking and writing.

Students will develop language skills applicable to both social interactions and workplace tasks、 covering a range of vocabulary and grammar for everyday and professional contexts. This course addresses communication needs across various fields、 including business、 healthcare、 travel、 and daily life、 preparing students to use English in these different settings.

授業の到達目標 The different goals (selected from the four stated below) will be set according to students’ needs:
1. Use essential skills and strategies such as skimming、 scanning、 and close reading to understand texts from different contexts.
2. Use vocabulary and grammar properly.
3. Express their thoughts according to genre-specific structure and elements.
4. Comprehend naturally spoken English.


授業時間外の学習に関する事項 Weekly homework assignments will be completed.  Students are expected to spend an hour or more on homework for this class.
教科書 The textbook will be chosen by the instructor.
参考文献・その他資料 Dictionaries are available through students' electronic devices such as smartphones. Students may also bring a paper dictionary to class.
成績評価方法 Exams and quizzes (70%)
Instructor-dependent scoring (30%)

担当教員から Effective communication skills in a foreign language cannot be gotten without practice. A positive attitude and dedication to learning English for the purposes of using it outside of the classroom will result in real improvement.
